George Bush Oil War?!
There has been some speculation that the war in Iraq is about oil, this is simply not so. George W. Bush would like us to think that we are “Creating a democratic government”. Here is why his theory will not work:
1. We need to treat these people as our equals.
2. Lets say that another foreign country like lets see… Russia attacks us because they want to “fix” our government now with that theory in mind how would we respond? It is not the fact that the Iraqi’s hate us it is the fact that they do like being force to embrace Democracy.
3. The only way Democracy is successful is if they vote their leaders in. There is a huge problem with this if they vote by fear then they will vote in the “enemy” which are in Insurgence, Iraq fails in the United State’s eyes.
Now that we have taken a look at the past the real question is thrusted in the political arena.
For the Democrats: If the war is truly pointless as Steven McClellan states and we should leave how long will Obama allow our troops to fight and die in vain? Will Obama make the same mistake as Richard Nixon who stated that we would end the war but he waits until he next term in office to remove the forces from the Vietnam. Will it be 6 months or 3 1/2 years.
OR
The Republicans: Another 100 years, and the Insurgency is successful, but where and for how long? But we should not worry about Citizen McCain because there are even old school Republicans that are skeptical of McCain.
So the question is since the Iraq war is a failure when should be the best time to withdrawal, and if we do not withdrawal why the hell are we fighting gain, what is the purpose or we just decreasing the surface population? Well I doubt the people of the US will allow it go on a hundred years so John McCain is shooting himself in the foot by saying “if that’s as long as it takes…” On the other hand, immediate withdrawal isn’t the answer either, so I doubt that the Democrats will bring the boys and girls home for the Inauguation. On the other hand: Republicans 100 years, Democrats potentially 6 years - not such a difficult decision. Besides, I think the Democrats will bring them out sooner rather than later - as long as they can get both Houses to agree. Often times campaign promises can be broken not because the person making them does an about face, but because they can’t get cut through the redtape needed to make it happen. My two cents anyway!
